September 12, Heavenly Blue, Chop Sue Me, Caniche 666 and Fielding

Friday September 12, Caniche 666, Chop Sue Me, Heavenly Blue were playing on the same stage at Casa del Popolo to a lot of enthusiastic fans who came for different bands and reasons. A melting pot is the best word I could've used to describe the night.  First of, Fielding . I'll say it again, FUCKING GREAT LIVE BAND. The sound was cool, the vocals and the ensemble was tight, the aggressive picking yet contained was driving me dizzy! Their songs were sweet and electrifying. Together these guys just seem like the happiest of family onstage, a reminder of CSNY onstage back when they could tolerate each other. Their single sounded definitely more assumed and grooving onstage then on digital platform! Having listened recently to Hey Hey, My My the intro to the wield live album of neil young and the crazy horse, I would say this album pictures well the energy of Fielding onstage if you have never seen them. I ensue everyone to go see them live at least once. Plus, you might get ...

September 5th, Bâtiment 7, Bad Objection, Mildew, Slackin Idles and more!

Image
September 5th there was a show at Bâtiment 7 . A maniacal show for sure! Everyone was there cunts, batters, mad hatter's, clowns and more underage uncivilized pot smokers. Girls boys, trans, and more were at the rendez vous for a five band lineup. I came up dressed, stressed and with little rest.  First up was Mildew , they crammed up the venue and tore down any worries of a bad show. Their act was on point, even better than anything I'd saw before. They seemed to be willing to destroy the place if possible. James the bassist was caught crowdsurfing and playing bass once again, Matteo was seen making love with the feedback of his amp with the guitar posted right in front! What was missing tho was a drummer to smash his kit. But I know, money is scarce and the kit wasn't his so their was no possibility of utterly destroying the whole kit! But they swept the kids off their feet. Stay Out by  Mitch Afterwards, I was out, it was too hot. Slackin Idle were about to go on, playi...

Le Buzz, un sacré Buzz!

"The place is full man sorry" - the man at the door "Oh nevermind that man, I'm here to write, and I haven't gotten high for a while so you better get me fucking in, I heard they were a hell of a trip!" Now that's not how I got in nor what I said word for word, do not worry. But I did have to sell my soul as a journalist to be allowed with my friend to come in, because unbeknowst to me, the place was sold out. Minutes before, I was watching by the window a homeless get in a rant about pastries in a garbage inside an Ultramar. What seemed like a goldmine to him, was property by the law to the clerk.  "Fuck it asti je veux mes pastiches tabarnak déjà que tu veux pas je rentre mon vélo, pi la tu veux pas me donner la bouffe dans poubelle, heille criss"  As he went out, he dropped one. Antoine came out shortly after with food and alcohol. I proceed to tell the homeless that he dropped one on the floor, he on the otherside tells me it's too dirt...

A night truly Cordial comme on dirait en français.

Image
"So who are you going to see?"  "A new band in town, some say it might just be the next cultural revolution for french music." "You believe that?" "Of course not." I left the apartment, I had 10$ on me, I wanted to split a ticket with someone to get in for half the price. After all, revolution was supposedly cheap, that's what they promised in Cuba back then. A certain band called Cordial were set to play with Sam on the drum who coincidently also plays in The Snatchers , Emile the long slim john lennon wit kind of guy, who reps a fender telecaster american performer worth much more than promises of a revolution, a female keyboardist, a certain Emrick on bass who started on the guitars giving way to interesting bass licks and Orleanne on violon.  Now to explain the context, a lot new bands are made every fucking day, it's become fast food to play music in hopes of escaping the nine to five life. Sadly, many just totally suck. Some ...

Fielding or Fielding? Both Songs talk about missing a girl...

Image
Fielding's new single Loved You Too , is a hazey into the wild song about a man missing his girl, his leftovers of the past. It's got a gritty rock tone yet blended in a Shoegaze style. Cedric on the drum is fittingly far from the pace he drums for other bands like One Trillion Bees or other past side projects. Far from all I've heard from the band before, it feels like a brand new start! Is it touching, surely, I did want to cry while sipping my black coffee all alone in my room, it gave me the hicks to leave all behind go in a chalet and live in the woods forever. Is it timeless? I'm not sure, but as a first single, it paints a certain portrait of the band. Will it last, will it foster them a home for decades to come, don't think so, but it's a pillar for what is to come or at least I hope. The voices aren't eagleesque, far from harmonies of Neil Young with CSNY, which I taught I heard in concert back then when they had a different name. The single was m...

Baboune, Mildew and Serial Milk At L'escogriffe on the 9th August.

Image
Shows and more shows. More bands, more music, but does this necessarely mean more entertainement? Depends which band and fan you ask. Matteo the singer of Mildew. Saturday night 9th August, I went to Escogriffe to see Serial Milk , Mildew and Baboune . The first band to play was Serial Milk, an esthetic band I'd say, then came Mildew, the holy knights of grunge and finally Baboune, wizards crafting a music never heard before, blending influences from heavy metal, hardcore, grunge and even a bit of pop rythms slipped to my ears. But before the show started, before I ever got there, before I even left, lots and lots happened.  I woke from a bender, another night partying, another night spent in the gaze of so many kids aged about twenty who could either idealize you or despise you. But now it was saturday, I could forget about all those weird and funny faces I'd seen the night before. But the headache wasn't forgotten.I gulped cheese, I read somehwere it helps break down ...
