Computer Science, Polyethelene, WeGotHistory, and The Snatchers at B7

Friday the 7th October, I drove down the highway, tired and not down at all to go to a show. I was tired and to be fair enough the lineup was not promising, it remained estranged. I love punk, I love some hardcore band, but was lies in emo-mid-schoolfailing-somethingcore, just ain't my type. It ain't bad, but it doesn't get my balls tingling. I tend to scratch my head more in signs of incomprehension of what is going on. In simple terms, I was down to see Polyethelene and Snatchers, but the two other bands, I just didn't have the energy. But I went, and what I saw was, well, how to say, it was special, some good surprises, some less exciting surprises. Just like an LSD trip, you hope for the best, but at times, things get messy, you have to stir left and right, up and down, hoping to find balance and be centered again for the rest of the trip.

Upon arrival at the Batiment 7, The Snatchers greet me, Fanny ,who is seen taking pictures at shows, is there; but for the rest, I don't recognize any faces. Now that was strange because it was a complete different crowd from a lot of shows I'd seen. Teens, as small a peas and beans were scattered, trying drugs, unsure of what they were doing or what they were seeing. Some thought it would be funny to call me a Beatles, thinking I'd never heard it before. Some thought it was scary, one even said she'd have nightmares thinking about my looks. Jeez, they've lost all respect now a days. But who cares, I've my shares of imbecileries and idiocies I commit on a regular basis too, even tho I'm now soon to be twenty-six. Outside it rains, so the smokes are short, the laughs and giggles aren't too long I have too say. Back in, I see Polyethelene play one song, rage spur out of Costa as he chains the words to the rythms Clio and Chloe are playing along their drummer Noah. They end the song, get off stage, I rush to them and say, "Wow short, but insane set!" I thought I'd missed the set so I tell em' it's good and go back hanging out around The Snatchers around their merch table. Fanny is preparing Nolan's makeup as some people come and buy them some merch.

Talk is cheap yet rich with laughter and suddenly the background music stops and on stage, four guys are on stage! I look up and it's Computer Science about to debut their set. The bassist has a Steinberg Spirit XT-2 four string standard headless bass and the guitarist has an Epiphone guitar a Les Paul Special 6 string. They are about to play some Emo Rock Screamo type shit music which is something I never expected to see with a Les Paul but hey, it's my first time seeing em' so I'm quite stocked to see how it goes. Their set is creative, at a point, the singer has an Harmonica on stage while they groove, at times their sound leans toward math rock if I can allow to say so, other times though, they lose cadence, the music stalls and the audience begins to wonder what is going on. I think they have great ideas, but seem shy on stage, a bit undecided at time how they should handle the crowd or their own performance. When they started, we could barely hear their vocals because the mics were so far, at a point the music almost completely stopped and these are elements that are key in a set. If their is to be a technical problem, the band members should entertain the crowd in my opinion, as Queen have said so well, The Show Must Go On! A new band must always have the crowds attention, they must spike an interest and be dynamic, which at some point wasn't the case with Computer Science that night. Nonetheless, they remain talented, and you should definitely listen to their demos on bandcamp. They should lastly, have a more focused music, the harmonica on stage was great, but we kind of didn't know if it was serious or simply a trick off the hat to entertain us more. They should have a concise set list and a flow through their song that'll allow them to have the audience by the balls from start to finish. Lastly, sadly, they clearly busted on time limit of the set, and I believe it to be quite a thing especially at B7 where you pay the venue by the hour and with all the noise complaints in Montreal and venues shutting down, having tight sets and respected deadlines is crucial to allow the scene to thrive and maintain good reputations for the venues. This is done with the help of a good soundman, bands who know what when and where to be at the right time and a crowd who follow the rules and regulations in and out of venues. It's a team effort and everyone should do their best even if it means a band must shorten their set list due to technicalities from the venue or their own performance. Computer Science will play a benefit festival on december 12 to december 13th along other acts.

Shoutout to Maya for the picture

After a smoke break, more beers and laughters, Polyethelene are back on stage and I now realize that before, it was only their soundcheck. But that highlights how tight and focused and sincere they are every time they are on stage. It also highlights how lost I can be, having believed they'd already played. But now for their performance, one word, GREAT, ASTOUNDING. Just like TOEVENEXIST, I believe this band will go far with only their stage act and presence. During their set, their sound got me so fazed with their dreamy yet tight sound, reverbs and delays applied to the good amount to remain impactful and the coordination of Clio's fingers on her bass is insane knowing she started playing just ten months ago and has only original material. I must urge anyone who is reading and hasn't seen em' yet to go see them. At the moment, being new, they end up on bills shared with acts of different genre allowing those who aren't necessarely only hardcore so it's a great time to see them now! One last thing, Costa who also takes pictures in the scene also does merch and designs so if your band needs help for merch Costa and Clio are references for helping out handling merch designs and more!

Next up was WEGOTHISTORY. I don't know, they played a Lincon Park cover but didn't reach the high notes, the backing singing wasn't always heard, but else, their playing was good, the crowd was very much into it, bouncing and jumping to the ceiling! To be fair, maybe I was too critical. But having seen Alexisonfire, I remembered being much more agitated and hyped but hey, I do believe I would have to see wegothistory again to have a better opinion, because their songs on Spotify such as Fall Forever and Tragedy At St. Valentine are songs I find very melodically interesting and overall grooving. They are issueing a new single called Dorothy which I encourage everyone to go pre-save and stream heavily on the day of it outting.

Finally we had The Snatchers! They played to a crowd that wasn't theirs at all. To be fair, I believe a lot of people

Shoutout to Hugo for the insane picture
might've not know how they were at all. But, they delivered a good quite hectic vibrant set. What I liked was, having a crowd they weren't familiar with, they played it safe but wild! They jumped, got us moshing, the kids were sweating, dizzy and overly ecstatic. They played songs from their album T.A.Z and other shenanigans with all their mights. At a point, Thomas bass ceased to function, the gain was jumping all over, but the band kept the show going. Sam the drummer along with Nolan starting rambling, playing music along as people tried to get the show going back on track. Finally Clio lent a bass to Thomas, they kept going for a couple songs, the problem reappeared but they said fuck it and just kept to their duty. For the crowd, if we hadn't heard the sound cutting, it would have passed almost unoticed. That is what every band should do. Whatever happens, you've got to keep the crowd hung up, they've literally got to keep moshing through if possible if you get what I mean. They eventually played their song Ventilator Kid as Thomas was figuring out his bass problem which had us all dancing with partners as the violon operatic theatral intro swung in. It was hilarious and caught many by surprise! Their last song was blizted and played at the right speed as they knew the night was coming to an end, the crowd was tired and the hours for the buss was coming to an end. That was fantastic and once again proved the band had a good sense of timing and fair concern for all concert goers! One last thing, I wanted to congrats or acknowledge all those picture takers, I saw them during the shows rushing around the stage and in the crowds, buzzing like bees hoping to find the sweet spot for the perfect picture. I have to say, I admire them a lot for what they do and how much energy it takes and how fast some render their pictures after the gigs. Thanks for reading and have a great night or day to all readers! See you at a next show. - Your favorite lookalike Beatle.

Hi bae, i’d like to add a lil sum to your lil blog. Starting off by people calling u a member from the Beatles.. well people did NOT think it was funny, in the contrary they thought it was cool and nice to see someone that has similar style in 2025… Secondly, the girl saying she’s going to have nightmares about you was just making jokes and if you, a 26y/o men offended by that.. you should honestly work on your confidence. She meant that she would have nightmares because she’s suddenly seeing a “beatle in the future”- her words. Also you are talking about no respect, none disrespected you, none meant to be rude to you. The community of B7 is very loving, caring and respectful.. By the way, yes there will be teens “little beans” , yes there will be children (with their parents) and all of that bur you don’t need to shame them for supporting this beautoful scene. They’re enjoying themselves .. you don’t need to act like a restaurant critic. If you didn’t feel comfortable , you should’ve left! Finally, you wrote about drugs/alcohol use.. baby you get high too and use substances. Don’t shame people who do drugs or drink.

Sorry if you saw it as a critic pointing fingers, I only wanted to form an image, I shall be more careful next time, but know that I haven't taken anything personally and that I only seek to report what I see, I don't have much opinion upon what ever happens. May your next readings be more enjoyable and sorry for any issues you've had.
