NZO, Mildew, HollowPoint and Bad Objection at Thrascan.

''Ladies and Gentlemen, I hope you've enjoyed your night up till now, I now ask you to scream as I welcome Bad Objection on stage!''

It was a night of restlessness. I'd been partying for so long, I couldn't even remember what it felt like to be sober. The sun had dried my neurons, the weed had enhanced my hearing and sight. Basically I felt I was living in a moonage daydream. I hung with Chad during the day and by six o'clock, we arrived at Trashcan. Monoliths of emptiness guarded the place, you can feel needles crawl under your arms, hear the skateboarders skate upon the diy ramps. Many used to be waiting for their man here, some still do, but overall, the place has calmed down. Rookies who start going to Trashcan now a days, missed the good old days where the old bartender would inject LSD in the water to get everyone high, gone are the days of weird allegations of sexual harassement, or people being invited to sleep upstairs waking up the next day realising the old man had dipped his cookie in the milk. Nowadays, things seem to have calmed down, the new kids around the block forgot about the old never ending nights at Traxide where you could hang with the little family you found in the community of no good refugees who hung there while waiting for the sun to rise.

The night started slowly, NZO got upon the mixing board, DJ'd his own music while singing. Although not my style, I must say, he managed well. Normally someone plays his music while he performs on the mic, but tonight he did it all. Genred in Y2K pop, he had his fans jumping and screaming as the high pitch notes echoed in the room. To hear such music at Trashcan reminded me of the old electronic nights in basements, dancing and screaming as the substances took control of my neurons back then. He truly is an artist with plenty of resources and talent as he mixes and masters his own tracks, helps others do so, manages yt2mp3_music, organizes small events and ensures to help out fellow musicians along his scene.

Next up was Mildew, their regular run of Nirvanaesque cascade on stage, guitar ransaking and the hairs in the face. Quite moving, a tik back at Reading Festival, simply in a venue les elegant. They surprised me with their cover of Goodnight Irene, which was a 3/4 song recorded by Lead Belly in 1933, but it's been played by such icons like Keith Richards, Johnny Cash and The Weavers who covered it in 1950, one year after Lead Belly's death, made it to the #1 spot back then and sold for more than two million copies since. A side's from playing an acoustic set high on heroin, Mildew are truly a reminder of Nirvana and the grunge scene, going up till covering Lead Belly, the same artist Kurt held high with respect. Back inside, after their set, the guitars being roughed up, the crowd was tired, so was I. We exited outside hoping to catch a breath of fresh air.

Later on, Hollow Point played. I ain't no anythingcore type of music, I used to but now a days I'm calmer. But nonetheless everytime I listen to Hollow Point, a week, a month later I'm caught right handed listening to their style of music, bringing back my passion for those sweet breakdowns! They covered Disengage with help of Nick from Parapariah. Actually Nick played the whole set, with his long hair a la Slash in his face. Breakdowns, noshing, hit in the face, in the back and plenty of screams could be seen and heard as they ripped through their set.

Bad Objection played last, people were waiting angst, screaming and praying for them to start! Ric looks at me, I climb up and grab the mic. "Is everybody ready for the last band! Make some fucking noise, I hope you enjoyed your night!" Everyone screams and as I go back down, the music starts! Dracula, You Ain't Like Me, and many more were played as the kids riled all over the place, dropping from the second floor to the ground, going back up, beer splatters, ashes flicker, and my high heels stumble all over. I'm so hot I have to go outside, but just as I'm about to exit, Chad hops on stage to sing! What a moment it was seeing the old bassist sing a song with em'! The show went on as I went outside after, and as I came back in they played their last song after an encore was demanded by fans in need of a fix.

Overall, the night was crazy, after that, a party was hosted at a friends house, but as my body ached to go to sleep, drained, I still went and gone was the night! Sadly for the show, the mics were shit, we couldn't hear well the bands and the crowd did an excellent job, but at times as the bands tried getting us to clap or else, we could barely understand what was ordered. But bravo to all. For more, Mildew are playing a show on the 09/08/2025 at L'escogriffe, Bad Objection are set to play in a while, and for nzo, he's releasing new music soon, but any shows are yet to be announced. Thanks and have a good one to all.
