3 Strikes You're Out, Bad Objection 's First Album

3 Strikes You're Out - Bad Objection Album Review

Hopping on a burning train, going down the rails, wondering where does it even go? Will it bring you down in the tiers-monde of Mexico where all the thrill and dangers are? Will it lead you to the High Class suburb of Montreal reign by sophisticated sounds or simply out in a field where wheat grows and the sky breathes purple haze?

Those  were the  questions I asked myself, as I pressed play on Spotify to listen to “3 Strikes You’re Out,” recorded by Bad Objection, captured at Ice Box Studio. One thing is sure; the train is fast paced, dazzling and running full steam to wherever the band wished to bring you.

Comprised of 10 action packed tracks, this masterpiece was sung and strummed by Riccardo Ranaldi, the bass foundations were laid down by Chad Baker and the drums were pounded by Pedro. They’re a punk trio, NOFX styled but better; much better. Coming from a man who is more of a Sex Pistols punk type, it has to be said they do have a street harsh raw style in my opinion, taking me back to a tone associated with  Fly On The Wall by AC/DC. s a Underground band, however, it fits them pretty well.

Bad Objection is a great punk band, one that isn’t afraid of showing their colors, their ideas and their strengths. Seeing them live at their album release party held on the 26th of August, I can confirm that on stage, their presence objects loudly to venues who wish to keep the crowd sitting and calm, and dare make posts about not having any mosh pits or crowds riled up.

The first track titled “3 Strikes You’re Out,” is a brilliant almost anthemic song structure, with touches of harmonized backing vocals supporting the singers voice at key moments that show you how close they are and how well they can work together. As I listened to it, it felt like I was plunged in a crowd for an outside concert where chaos reigns and beers and sweat oozes from all around.

Track number 3 titled “Do That Again,” caught my ears due to its Motorhead fast paced gnarly riff and the  rhythmic drum change catching me off guard during the bridge. If you know of the band called Hellacopters, you know they’ve got a good twist on Chuck Berry kind of blues.

Well, track number 4 titled “Greaser '' had me imagining Chuck Berry popping a couple speeds and going all out with an overdriven amp, a thing unimaginable back then. ow, with the help of Bad Objection, you have the chance to know what overhyped blues mixed into a garage-like sound and primed youth sound like.

Track 8, “Rotten World,” has a piratesque sound to it, and track number 10, self-titled “Bad Objection,” has its sound almost convulsing into doom.

The other tracks have their little twists that distinguish them but I’ll let you guys listen to the album and make up your mind on which one is the best.

In conclusion  my favorite track has to be the first one, [3 Strikes You’re Out] due to its fluidity and sense of overall tight blend of elements. This said, Bad Objection is a great punk band, one that isn’t afraid of showing their colors, their ideas and their strengths. Seeing them live at their release party that was held on the 26th of August, I can confirm their presence on stage objects loudly to venues who wish to keep the crowd sitting and calm and who dare make posts about not having any mosh pits or crowds riled up. The album is excellent, and I can tell you that this steam rolling train will take you on for a hell of a ride. Julian from Ice Box Studios truly knows how to capture the sound of any passionate youth full of creativity. Bad Objection managed to strike us all out with their first album. The title stands strong, leaving us to wonder what is to come for the next album, keeping in mind that after three strikes you are out.

The punk trio is full of promises for the future and their next show that I know of is on the 13th of October at the Purple Room and there is one at Hemisphère Gauche on the 25th of November. Their album is available on all platforms!

3 Strikes You're Out, Critique du premier album de Bad Objection
