Dievanse, Prowrestler and Armoire

Word of introduction, this article took a long time to write, because of indecisions. Should I speak truth, spit out what I felt and saw or write what people want to hear?  The show with Dievanse, Prowrestling and Armoire back in  was a great show, but the timing was wrong, some bands exploded of energy, other agonized and somehow an opportunity to make a bang was missed. And like anything in a society, with no rules or boundaries comes chaos, boredom, lost of sense and no progress. We see signs such as, kids outside of the Batiment 7 drinking more alcohol than there'll ever be of decibels in the room. Sold out shows with half the crowd giggling and photoshooting outside the show. So are the kids simply bored out of their minds or are the bands blame and tame? I can't tell, dpeneds on the nights, depends on the setlists and more, but hey, I'm only here to tell stories, so here's goes another story, a story of cold, of high voltage, a story about bands who wrestled agains't the stakes.

Cold, again, again, again. The colds last longer than the sweats, the tingling feeling of nausea. The colds, they pass through your veins, you can't help but ponder, you turn around, around and around. Better be outside, inside, outside, inside. Whatever, smoke a joint and it should fix half of the problem. So outside I go, to see friends from Dievanse play at Turbo Haus alongside Pro Wrestling The Band, a band from Ontario I saw at Pouzza Fest the year before. Alongside, as opening act, a band named Armoire are set to light up the fire. Finally arriving at the venue, I light a cigarette, I see Carter, Moc October, we shake hands, laugh, and smoke a bit. His friends are there, we exchange, turns out we know people in common. Inside we go, I sneeze, I take my coat off, but find myself freezing not long after. I get a beer, Armoire a on stage, ready to start their set. Their style is surely smooth, a Beck mixed with Voivods more rough edge style punk. Their songs gravitate around common issues of love, work and the entrallement of life. Their performance is as warm as a soup after a long afternoon outside. I feel revigorated after their set and with a couple of joke from the frontman, the audience is keen to hear more from them. Here are their Social Links. Their next show is at Petit Ours on the 26th of April. Here's a link to their latest EP, released in 2025, titled Genre, emo!

Next up was Pro Wrestling The Band, the band I saw in 2025 at Foufounes Électriques for Pouzza Fest. By then, the outside weather had dug it's claws further down my throat, and to help out, I kept on chainsmoking making sure my blood flows all year long. A friend of mine stated, you look like Nick Cage back in his disastrous days on heroin, nourrished by Iggy Pop's insane stunts onstage. Onstage, the band is setting up, and by the time I have another sip of dark stenched beer, the drums tear right through the whispers lingering in the room. It's a blow, those who'd danced away have no time to wipe off the sweat, more infectious LA skate park punk or Avril Lavigne type of rock music comes our way. Their energy brings me back to the times I skated as a kid with some loud music giving no fucks about money, daydrinking and binge bongripping times I use to dabble in. Songs like Sara and Replacements are great examples of these fond memories of my childhood. Other songs delve more in nostlagia and intricate guitar melodies tainted in minor chord progressions like Don't Mind Me. The song reminded me a bit of I Don't Love You written by My Chemical Romance 20 years ago. Overall, a lot of people were waiting for Pro Wrestling the Band, by the time the band left the stage, most hit it. For many, their time around the venue was over, cigarettes nor beers could keep them glued to the dancefloor. Pro Wrestling The Band have recently cancelled their tour so before they come back on stage, expect a little time off. Meanwhile you can still go stream their EP titled Weanling.

Lastly, Dievanse came on stage. Their way of dressing is random yet calculated. A mix between Radiohead's non chalant shirts and Kanye West's dark cutting edge designer clothes. Does that give a good idea? The remaining show viewer have eyes peeled on the band who act unbothered, relaxed almost Nirvanaesquely calm. The singer jokes on stage, plugs his guitar and WHOMMM the show starts. His voice is one that leans towards Chris Cornell's haunting vocals mixed in with some modern Youngblood like artist. Pop, ghotic and shoegaze are well suited to talk of their music with songs like Skinwalker or Fade Into Me representing their essence. Their set had a flow that fit the end of the night, yet sadly, in my opinion by the end, the energy should go through the roof. Their performance was great, the ensemble is quite impressive on stage, but sadly, the line up of the night didn't help them out. Such band, although surely eager to get big, should be playing first especially with bands such as Pro Wrestling The Band on the lineup and Armoire being much more energetic on stage. Their next show is yet to be annouced, meanwhile go check out their demos. Thanks for all, have a good day.
