Move Away Peacefully, I repeat leave peacefully!

The Show is Over, Leave Peacefully, I Repeat, The Show Is Over, Please Leave respectfully. Those words, they're ringing in my ears, I open my eyes. I'm in my bed, besides, a needles yonders over the edge, it's got suicidal tendencies or is it simply tired. Tired like I was yesterday. Tired, Hired and Satyred. I get up, recollect the evening. Ah yes a show at Van Horne, four bands on a bill starting at 7 pm. Quite late and packed like lineup I believe. Having four bands play at Van Horne is merely impossible except if you start at 5 or 6 maybe. But even then by ten o'clock the cops always get cocky and try to tone down the place. This ain't Monterrey Pop Festival nor Woodstock, the cops have the authority. And there ain't enough youngsters and revolutionaries to start a movement under a bridge. Not one that could grant a pass to make noize later than ten that is.

I arrived at the place, wearing a fucking jacket not knowing how hot it was. Geez, I really need to have pants with pockets, I can't always wear a coat in this humidity. Whatever, I'm with Antoine and Jord, both are excited. ''So who are the bands tonight,'' Antoine asks. The Snatchers, which just released T.A.Z are playing they're real good, they got potentiel. Then there's Honey, a rock grunge blues heavy band, Frontrow who I don't really know and finally Plus, which I have no clue who they are, I reply to him.

Antoine nods, gets a cigarette out as we are walking around the street to access the venue. The famous train track stands there like a colossus. Not moving a bit, surrounded by wholed fences. We take a quick peak at the park, it's all wet. Duck, walk over the track, duck again and there we are at the show. Plus are starting. I know sweet nothing of their songs. Their single on Spotify titled Mechanical is great although it really reminds one of the melancholic summer drives in the 90s which makes me wonder if they shouldn't have opted for a more moving song as a first single. I think they could get a bit more energetic or fashionable on stage at certain times but overall their music is great to listen as I stroll around saying Hi to people I meet but it does lack an impact. But I do know they are fairly new and so I'm not worried they've got more to come later on.

Next up is Frontrow. We've got Mathieu Lavoie Hétu on drums, Maxime Martain on Bass, Samuel Bourgeois on vocals, which he fucking killed, Jean David Lafontant and William Lavoie Gagnon both assuring duty on guitar.

They remind me of Simple Plan mixed with a glimpse of 2000's hardcore vibe. They played only originals which was real nice. What I enjoyed was their blend of heaviness with pop punk and rock riffs through their songs. Their set was tight, they got us swirling, teens were banging their heads, jumping, screaming. I mean it was the time of their lives. The band has recently outed their single What's The Worst which reminds me of Drive by Deftones a bit, a shoegaze type of song, reminiscing of the good old days of relationships we've all as human had. Personally, Took a Trip is the song that represents them best in studio vs live. I also wanted to mention their song artworks on Spotify are quite unique! Go check em' out!

Next up was Honey. With Gael on the drums who, I wish to remind everyone, broke his arm or at least fucked it up like a month ago, is back on drums for a full set time. Honey started their live around March this year and I must say they keep amazing me. They've covered ground in the scene and everyone who knows them a bit has instantly told me, oh yeah that band is so fucking god. Kirk on guitar just fucking shreds, he can play it all. He simply let's his finger slide and the right notes come up no matter what. He's like Kurt Cobain but if the artist had

actually studied music theory and all. Briefly, he's fucking insane to see and quite unique. At a point, he was haulered in the air, and during all the time he was being carried around, he just kept playing the song they were performing. You just need to see em' if you don't believe me. Their setlist was great although I can't really tell you my favorite song since I don't have the name and they have yet to release songs on major streaming platforms to feed the riches. Seeing Honey was like Jimi Hendrix at Monterey Pop Festival, it was mindfucking blowing! I stand my words and so would anyone in the crowd last night say so too.

What happened next was not what was supposed to happen. I look at my watch after Honey are done, I'm quite surprised already ten o'clock. That's late for another band to play at Van Horne. Well, right I was, as the Snatchers were ready to embark on their set and blow our minds away, the cops arrive. Cocky, cruel looking and

disrespectfully their demand to tear down the show, scram they say. Someone takes the microphone and starts directing the orchestra of youngsters. Hoping to keep on with the peace and love movement of the sixties, she demands we all leave quietly, no littering and fucking around. People are pissed, everyone says the cops should be elsewhere stopping major crimes, not fucking bands who just want to have a good time. By then I pick up my skate and we went on skating at the park besides. Luckily I believe people wined a bit but left respectfully and no brutality was needed by the cops and no one was injured or worse. But quickly I wanted to talk a bit of their latest EP T.A.Z. It's monumental. It follows the punk trend other bands like Conflit Majeur, Le Plan Caneton and General Chaos have going. The songs are wicked groovy more than other punk releases I've heard recently, and above all, they remind me of Les Colocs along with My Chemical Romance the way the album is built. The interludes, the accent of the singer who I dare say speaks french more often than english. But nonetheless it is a refreshing take on punk. Something in the mix is fresh, aired out, light yet punchy and my only remark is the voice could've sometimes been a bit louder. This album feels like a theater play where anarchy creeps in as you listen further and further. The Snatchers are defintely at the moment the most creative punk band I've heard in a while. Keep on rocking in a free world mates! All pictures seen along the article come from Melih NehirPeace and Thank You for reading this article!
